Saucon Valley School District officials announced around 10 a.m. Thursday that all K-12 schools are closed Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, due to the fact that staff recently learned of \u201creports of a potential threat directed toward the school community.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDistrict officials received information through social media, text messages, Safe2Say reports and phone calls regarding a possible threat,\u201d a news release said. \u201cThe district immediately reported the threat to local law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n
The district said administrators chose to close schools \u201cout of an abundance of caution\u201d while the matter is under investigation by local law enforcement officials.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are making this decision\u2026with the absolute priority of our students\u2019 and staff\u2019s safety in mind,\u201d the district said in a communication to families.<\/p>\n
In addition to schools being closed, all on-campus extracurricular activities and athletic events scheduled for Thursday\u2013including Saucon Valley Elementary\u2019s Math and Literacy Night\u2013are postponed or canceled. A previously scheduled virtual SAT\/ACT informational class was to be held as planned.<\/p>\n
Students enrolled at Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School who have their own transportation were given the option to attend vo-tech classes. However, district transportation was not provided.<\/p>\n
