READING, Pa. \u2014 If you can\u2019t wait for Berks Jazz Fest, head to GoggleWorks in Reading, where jazz is already alive.<\/p>\n
The 22nd annual Art of Jazz exhibit is now on display in the Schmidt Gallery at GoggleWorks. The show honors legendary local musician Frank Scott.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a tenor saxophonist that was pretty famous around here,\u201d said Chante\u00e9 Gibson, community programs director for Berks Arts. \u201cAnd so they invite all artists to come and submit their work with the theme of celebrate jazz.\u201d<\/p>\n
Artists from across the East Coast were invited to create work inspired by jazz.<\/p>\n
The exhibit is on display in the Schmidt Gallery on the second floor of GoggleWorks.<\/p>\n
Gibson highlighted several artists featured in the exhibit.<\/p>\n
\u201cNadia Musick did this artwork called Chet Baker\u2019s Long Blue Note. She\u2019s a returning artist,\u201d Gibson said. \u201cAnd Gregory Didyoung does all of his work with fragmented pieces of metal.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exhibit opened Feb. 18 and runs through March 18.<\/p>\n
After that, it heads to the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading as part of Berks Jazz Fest, which begins March 19.<\/p>\n
