That\u2019s how 93.7 The Fan put it this week while describing the 2026 Pirates, who look vastly different than recent Pittsburgh teams that relied on small ball and manufacturing runs.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re looking at having three of the most physically gifted players in baseball on one team: Paul Skenes, Konnor Griffin and Oneil Cruz. And if each of them play to their potential, you\u2019re a playoff team,\u201d said the host<\/a>. \u201cThis is a physically imposing baseball team\u2026Now you\u2019ve got freaks. This team scares you\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Skenes is arguably the best pitcher in baseball<\/a> and coming off a unanimous NL Cy Young award. Griffin is MLB\u2019s No. 1 prospect and drawing comparisons<\/a> to Mike Trout and Willie Mays. Cruz is a monster<\/a> with All-Star and perhaps MVP ability if he can put it all together.<\/p>\n

If they play up to their potential, they could be three of the best players in baseball this year. And with all the talent around them now, Pittsburgh would probably be good enough to make the postseason<\/a> for the first time since 2015.<\/p>\n
