SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – South Whitehall Police are warning of a driveway sealing scheme happening around the township.<\/p>\n
The company goes by the name of “Northern Asphalt – Make Your Driveway Great Again.”<\/p>\n
A business card simply lists “Robert Northern” and Allentown with no business address.<\/p>\n
The customer affected was quoted for $800. A different individual identified as “Johnny Wells” with the same phone number arrived and completed the work, according to police.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After work was done — the customer was given a handwritten bill for 27,000 dollars, and cited a 15-year warranty.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police say some red flags to look out for are no written contracts, no physical address, price switching, and hand written receipts.<\/p>\n
Police warn that you should always verify business licensing, look for reviews, avoid paying up front.<\/p>\n
And if the price spikes unexpectedly — do not pay and call the police.<\/p>\n
