Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro posted on X this weekend that his family is praying for the families of U.S. service members killed in action in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
The post, published on Sunday, also spoke to other service members wounded and prayers for Pennsylvanian and all U.S. troops.<\/p>\n
In an earlier statement on Saturday, Shapiro criticized President Donald Trump\u2019s declaring war without congressional approval.<\/p>\n
The governor said the purpose for war- regime change and\/or nuclear disarmament- has been inconsistent. He noted that starting war without a clear goal or planned international coalition puts U.S. Service members at risk.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn going to war with Iran, the president has not adequately explained why this war is urgent now, what this military campaign may look like, or what the strategic objective is,\u201d said Shapiro.<\/p>\n
The governor did assert that Iran must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons and that the Rranian people deserve a better government.<\/p>\n
State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, who is running for governor and is herself a U.S. veteran, also posted support for American troops and Iranian citizens who she described as \u201ccourageously seeking freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Pennsylvania Gov.
