We’re in the business end now.

“We’ve got to try and go and win another home game. We’re still in a great position so keep that momentum going and let’s go and finish the season strongly.”

City were within touching distance of their first away points since January 4 when Reading subs Paddy Lane and Matt Ritchie struck late to snatch the unlikeliest comeback victory.

But the response from the travelling fans struck a chord with Power.

“We’ve certainly got to do better but you could see the reaction from the away fans clapping us off.

“It would have been quite easy for them to have a go. They were as disappointed as we all were.

“But they could see we gave everything and could appreciate that. It still doesn’t mean we can’t do better.

“Football has ways of just kicking you in the stomach out of nowhere.

“I think in recent weeks we’ve let ourselves down away from home. Luton was a bit of an exception but, other than that, we’ve had some disappointing away days.

“But I think that was a Bradford City performance. That’s as close to a home game I feel like we’ve played in a long time but we got no points.”

City’s 2.41 points-per-game ratio at home is the second highest in League One behind leaders Cardiff. But their record away from the University of Bradford Stadium is becoming an increasing concern.

They have lost seven of the last eight away games – a slump that Orient kicked off when they came from behind to win on the weekend before Christmas.

Power felt City’s performance at Reading shows it is not a mindset issue.

He added: “I had a chat with the senior players on Friday night about coming to the ground, sticking our chest out and starting to show we are a good team.

“We’ve proved that over the course of the season. We’ve gone away from home and beaten Cardiff, Blackpool and Plymouth.

“We’ve picked up some important points on the road. Stevenage haven’t lost many at home, neither have Bolton. We’ve shown that we can do it.

“Ultimately, lately, we haven’t. We’re searching for that formula to get us back to it and that was close.

“It would be easy to be on the floor but that’s football.

“It was nearly a perfect performance but nearly is not enough.

“It was a tough one to take. I was disappointed not to take three points, never mind one.

“It should have been locked up, three points and done. But if you replicate that performance nine times out of ten you’ll get your rewards.”

City are once again picking themselves up for another Valley Parade reaction after a fifth straight away loss.…

[11
128,130,129
0":"post-127942","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-reading","8":"tag-reading-city","9":"tag-reading-city-headlines","10":"tag-reading-city-news
["GET
