From Berks County Bar Association<\/p>\n
Berks County students in grades 5 through 8 are invited to celebrate Law Day by participating in the Berks County Bar Association\u2019s Multimedia Competition.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s Law Day theme is \u201cThe Rule of Law and the American Dream.\u201d The theme urges everyone to reflect on the principle that no individual in our nation is above the law. It is the rule of law that ensures individual rights and allows our citizens to pursue their dreams.<\/p>\n
Because our country is celebrating its 250th\u00a0anniversary, the Bar Association is asking students to submit entries addressing the following topic:\u00a0\u201cAs the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, explain how the events of the last 250 years have shaped the country you live in today and provide examples of how you\u2019d like the country to improve over the next 250 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
All entries must be original works consistent with community standards in the following formats: short video (three minutes or less), photography, painting, drawing, collage, poster, poem, or essay.\u00a0Entries must include the student\u2019s name, school, grade, e-mail, and phone number. All entries must be submitted by e-mail to Emily Bucolo at\u00a0ebucolo@berksbar.org<\/a>\u00a0by Monday, April 13.\u00a0Two winning entries will be chosen from the 5th\u00a0to 6th\u00a0grade entries, and two winners from the 7th\u00a0to 8th\u00a0grade entries.<\/p>\n Winners will receive cash awards\u00a0of $200 for first place and $150 for second place. In addition, the winners, their parents, and teachers will be invited to join a special Law Day celebration in May.<\/p>\n About the Berks County Bar Association<\/p>\n The Berks County Bar Association supports the legal profession by promoting professional excellence, encouraging collegiality, and exercising advocacy on its behalf.
