For decades, it’s been more than just a store. It’s where families shopped for holiday dinners, neighbors caught up, and generations of memories were made,” the department wrote. “After many successful years, Komensky’s Market is closing its doors for good. It’s hard to see such a beloved part of our town go, but we’re deeply grateful for all the years of service, kindness, and community spirit.”

West Pittston’s Facebook page also issued a post.

“For so many in our area, Komensky’s wasn’t just a place to shop. It was part of daily life. From homemade kielbasa to friendly conversations at the counter, it represented the kind of small-town tradition that defines Luzerne County,” the post read. “As we say goodbye, we also say thank you to the Komensky family and their staff for decades of warmth, hard work, and community spirit.
