It is among the steam locomotives in the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania collection that will be photo objects in Brian Solomon\u2019s upcoming program Railroad Photography: The Steam Locomotive. Brian Solomon<\/p>\n<p>STRASBURG, Pa. \u2014 Railroad photographer, author, and Trains columnist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trains.com\/trn\/railroads\/history\/beyond-the-byline-with-brian-solomon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Brian Solomon<\/a> will lead a photo session at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, March 10. The program \u2014 Railroad Photography: The Steam Locomotive \u2014 runs from 9 to 11 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-featured_sm wp-image-162019\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/TRN-BrianSolomon-400x400.jpg\" alt=\"Man holding camera with yellow train in background. Solomon to lead Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania photo session.\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\"  \/>Brian Solomon<\/p>\n<p>Using the museum\u2019s unique collection of historic steam locomotives, built between the 1830s and 1960s, Solomon will guide participants through the best ways to capture the most intricate details found on steam engines. The program will offer opportunities to photograph smaller yard switchers to larger mainline freight and passenger locomotives. During the session, Solomon will discuss how steam locomotives operated, their various components, importance in railroad history, and why they are so fascinating.<\/p>\n<p>Participants are encouraged to bring any type of camera \u2014 digital or film, smart phone or advanced setup. The program will focus on composition and technique with regard to historic steam locomotives.<\/p>\n<p>Solomon holds a degree in photographic illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He produces a daily blog about railroad photography and has published numerous articles and photos in railway magazines including Trains Magazine, Railway Age, Railroad Explorer, Railfan &amp; Railroad, National Railroad Historical Society Bulletin, Germany\u2019s Modelleisenbahner, the Journal of the Irish Railway Record Society and the UK\u2019s Rail Magazine. Solomon has authored more than 70 books.
