It\u2019s also time to register for summer camps,<\/a> so check out some of Kidsburgh\u2019s curated camp guides and start dreaming of warmer temps. This weekend, though, choose one of these family-friendly activities:<\/p>\n

Friday, March 6: Wiggles and Giggles Storytime at the Penn Hills Library, 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

Come out to the Penn Hills library where little guests will wiggle and giggle together as staff share age- and developmentally-appropriate interactive stories, songs, movement activities and finger-plays. This event<\/a> is free and is designed for ages 2-3 and their caregivers.<\/p>\n

Friday, March 6: Super Science at CLP Allegheny, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Get curious at this free event at the Allegheny (Central North Side) location of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. At Super Science, kids in K-5th grade will have a chance to get excited about a science topic. A read-aloud is paired with hands-on, high-quality STEM activities promoting scientific inquiry and wonder about science. This event is best for kids in grades K-5. Find more info here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Saturday, March 7: Storytime at the Museum, 10 a.m. <\/p>\n

Join Carnegie Museum of Natural History staff for Storytime at the Museum every Saturday. Hear nature and science stories read by Natural History Interpreters and get a chance to touch museum specimens. Stop by for one page, one book or stay for the whole 45 minutes. This event meets at the bench in the entrance of Dinosaurs in Their Time. Registration is not required, and you can find more details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Saturday, March 7: Carrick Walk-In Food Distribution, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

When you attend the Carrick Walk-In Food Distribution, you can receive a mix of loose grocery items at no cost. They offer dairy items, produce and shelf-stable foods in family-sized portions. This is a walk-in event, meaning that guests will walk through a line of grocery items and choose which items will suit them and their families best. Saturday, March 7: Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at CLP, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Saturday, March 7: Teen Summer Activities Fair, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

Come out to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh\u2019s Hazelwood location for an awesome, free Teen Summer Activities Fair. Saturday, March 7: Sensory-Friendly Screening of \u201cHoppers\u201d at The Linsday Theater and Cultural Center, 10 a.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tickets for this showing are on sale for a discounted rate of $8.75. \u201cHoppers,\u201d which starts playing at The Lindsay on March 6, is an original Pixar story about a teenager who becomes one with nature after her mind is transferred into the body of a robotic beaver. The Lindsay has been proudly holding sensory-friendly screenings since 2017. These screenings provide an option for families, children, and adults impacted by autism and other special needs to watch films together in a low-stress environment. The staff lowers the film\u2019s volume, keeps the house lights dim, and has a door open to restrooms and the lobby throughout the film. Trailers are eliminated to reduce the necessary \u201csit time.\u201d Staffing levels are also increased to allow a personal, unhurried cinematic experience for everyone. Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8: Dry Point Etching at MuseumLab<\/p>\n

This weekend, the Children\u2019s Museum of Pittsburgh presents four workshops at MuseumLab where kids can learn to design and create multiple, identical prints during the one-hour session. Kids will use etching tools to make a detailed acrylic printing plate, then ink and print using an etching press. Kids ages 9 and up may participate without an adult, and tickets<\/a> are $10.<\/p>\n

March 8: Kids of STEEL Youngest Movers Play Day<\/p>\n

This free Play Day event is designed for children ages 0\u20135 to explore movement through play with both the Kids of STEEL Youngest MOVERS program and the KidStrong training experience. Children ages birth to 2 will move alongside their grown-up, while ages 3\u20135 participate independently with supportive, qualified coaches. Sunday, March 8: Pittsburgh\u2019s Hidden History Behind the Curtain, 2 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Join the museum professionals who worked on Pittsburgh\u2019s Hidden History for a lively panel exploring the wacky, weird and wonderful stories that shaped the exhibition. From spooky artifacts and tiny treasures to extraordinary pieces spanning centuries of Pittsburgh history, the exhibit brings together a remarkable mix of stories and objects, including many that have never been on view. Hear directly from the people who developed the exhibit as they share insider stories, unexpected discoveries and the creative process behind the artifacts, archival materials and themes explored. The program will be moderated by Anne Madarasz, chief historian and director of the Sports Museum, and will feature a panel discussion. Tickets<\/a> are $10, and members attend for free.<\/p>\n

March 8: Stardew Valley: Symphony of Seasons at the Benedum Center<\/p>\n
