Officials say the funding will support local projects across the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll says the funding helps municipalities pay for snow removal, paving, and other maintenance. The money comes from state gas tax revenues through the liquid fuels program.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say Pennsylvania has about 121,000 miles of public roads statewide. Local governments maintain roughly 78,000 miles and more than 6,600 bridges.<\/p>\n<p>Transportation officials say the funding formula considers population and miles of locally owned roads.
