The Scranton man accused of menacing a crowd of protesters during a \u201cNo Kings\u201d rally in Wilkes-Barre last fall has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct charges, according to court records.<\/p>\n
Michael Paul Kolarik, 52, was accused of brandishing a pistol and pointing it at protesters attending the anti-President Donald Trump rally on Public Square on the morning of Oct. 18.<\/p>\n
During a hearing last Friday, Kolarik pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct. Prosecutors previously withdrew additional charges of reckless endangerment and making terroristic threats against Kolarik.<\/p>\n
Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for April 29.<\/p>\n
The charges alleged Kolarik was driving a red Jeep Wrangler adorned with Trump political flags when he flashed a pistol and pointed it toward at least two people in the area of Public Square.<\/p>\n
When police pulled Kolarik over, they found him in possession of two loaded Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistols. Kolarik legally owned the weapons and had a license to carry concealed firearms, according to police.<\/p>\n
