From old couches to broken appliances, when warmer weather hits, it often brings piles of unwanted items to Erie\u2019s sidewalks.<\/p>\n
However, one local company, Haul Pros LLC, traded business as usual for community service, hauling away bulky items for residents who may not have the means or know how to dispose of them properly.<\/p>\n
Erie City Mission honors Lou Bizzarro, family with plaque <\/a><\/p>\n Michael Valerio is the owner of Haul Pros. He said they are just trying to give back to the community.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re already cleaning up spaces, doing property cleanouts, so it really just makes sense that we do our part and keeping Erie clean,\u201d Valerio said.<\/p>\n Mary Wassall, the Public Relations Coordinator for the Mayor\u2019s Office of Communication Affairs, said there are certain items that can be picked up if you submit a form online.<\/p>\n \u201cCouches, mattresses, dressers, and that\u2019s free for residents; they can go onto our website and schedule a pickup and that helps a lot, obviously getting that stuff off of the streets to make sure that we have a safe, clean community for everyone to enjoy,\u201d Wassall said.<\/p>\n Remembering Jesse Jackson \u2014 Local leaders reflect on his impact in Erie <\/a><\/p>\n The initiative Valerio started is a sub-service of his company\u2019s normal offerings. Haul Pros typically does junk removal for houses. However, they felt the need to give back to the city for free.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re starting this thing, keeping Erie clean, and we\u2019re targeting illegal dumpsites, furniture tossing the side of the road, mattresses, trash piles, spots people complain about and personally want to see get cleaned up,\u201d Valerio said.<\/p>\n Wassall said electronic units and equipment are not part of that list.<\/p>\n To see the full list of items that can be picked up and fill out a pickup form showing what the city will take for free, click here.<\/a><\/p>\n
