It’s still a mystery as to whether Aaron Rodgers is going to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers next season and the veteran quarterback said Wednesday that he hasn’t placed a deadline on the decision about his future.<\/p>\n
Rodgers, 42, spoke publicly for the first time since the end of the Steelers’ season on Wednesday when he appeared on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show<\/a>.”<\/p>\n During his interview on the show, the veteran quarterback said while he’s been in contact with the team<\/a>, the Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t given him a deadline for him to let them know his intentions or plans for the upcoming season.\u00a0<\/p>\n “There’s been no deadline that’s been put in front of me,” Rodgers said<\/a>. “There’s no contract offer or anything, so there’s nothing that I’m having to debate between. I’m a free agent. I’m enjoying my time with my wife and enjoying this part of the offseason and I think there’s conversations to be had down the line, but right now, there hasn’t been any progressive conversations.<\/p>\n Rodgers went on to praise Mike McCarthy, who was hired earlier this year<\/a> to replace Mike Tomlin, who stepped down after nearly two decades as head coach of the Steelers.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n “I love Mike, and Mike and I have kept some contact over the years,” Rodgers said, calling McCarthy “one of the great guys in the league<\/a>,” adding that he’s an “exceptional human being with a big heart.”<\/p>\n In his lone season with the Steelers, Rodgers threw 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, leading Pittsburgh to an AFC North division<\/a> title, losing in the wild card round of the postseason to the Houston Texans<\/a>.<\/p>\n
