An investigation is underway after prosecutors said human remains were discovered in a wooded area in Cape May County, New Jersey.<\/p>\n
According to the Cape May County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, on March 3, 2026, a county resident was walking in a wooded area in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township and discovered what appeared to be a human skull.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said following the report, investigators conducted a coordinated search of the surrounding area.<\/p>\n
As a result of that search, prosecutors said skeletal remains believed to be those of an adult were located and recovered.<\/p>\n
At this time, a positive identification has not been made, and an investigation remains ongoing, prosecutors shared. <\/p>\n
Prosecutors explained that additional information will be released as it becomes available and that there is no threat to the public at this time.<\/p>\n
