CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, the parent company of Dorney Park, previously announced plans to shrink its portfolio.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, the amusement park giant made good on that pledge and confirmed it will sell seven of its sites.<\/p>\n
First things first: Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in South Whitehall Township is not on the list. Neither is Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, N.J.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Here are the places leaving the Six Flags portfolio:<\/p>\n
– Valleyfair (Minneapolis, Minn.)<\/p>\n
– Worlds of Fun (Kansas City, Mo.)<\/p>\n
– Michigan\u2019s Adventure (Grand Rapids, Mich.)<\/p>\n
– Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston (Galveston, Texas)<\/p>\n
– Six Flags St. Louis (St. Louis, Mo.)<\/p>\n
– Six Flags Great Escape (Queensbury, N.Y.)<\/p>\n
– Six Flags La Ronde (Montreal, QC)<\/p>\n
The parks are being sold to\u00a0EPR Properties of Kansas City, Mo. for $331 million.\u00a0EPR plans to partner with Enchanted Parks to run the six properties in the U.S., and with\u00a0La Ronde Operations, Inc. to operate Six Flags La Ronde in Canada. All of the sites\u00a0will continue their regular operating schedules, Six Flags said.<\/p>\n
Collectively, the seven sites\u00a0welcomed 4.5 million guests in 2025 and generated about $260 million in net revenue for Six Flags.<\/p>\n
The deal is subject to closing conditions and other approvals but is expected to close\u00a0by the end of the first quarter or beginning of the second quarter.<\/p>\n
According to Six Flags, the transaction represents a significant milestone in the company\u2019s “disciplined portfolio optimization strategy.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cConsistent with our strategy, this divestiture enables us to concentrate our capital, leadership and operational focus on the properties that we believe generate the strongest returns and offer the greatest long-term upside,\u201d said Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly in a news release.<\/p>\n
Six Flags has struggled financially since its $8 billion merger in 2024 with the Ohio-based Cedar Fair, which brought sites including Dorney Park under its umbrella.<\/p>\n
Following the divestiture,\u00a0Six Flags will be left with 34 parks across 23 locations in North America for the 2026 season.\u00a0Dorney Park will open on May 8, with Wildwater Kingdom opening May 23.<\/p>\n
