READING, Pa. – The local chapter of the American Red Cross is honoring everyday heroes.<\/p>\n
Our Karin Mallett hosted the Berks County Heroes Breakfast at the DoubleTree Hotel in Reading this morning.<\/p>\n
The Red Cross gives awards to people who help save lives and give their time to make a difference in their community.<\/p>\n
Organizers say it’s important to recognize their efforts and share these stories.<\/p>\n
“I think people need heroes. I think we all like to see people who are willing to go above and beyond. I think it restores our faith in humanity sometimes,” said Peter Brown, executive director of the American Red Cross Pa Rivers Chapter.<\/p>\n
