a whole lot of heart \u2014 and a little 70s flair \u2014 came together at the Bayfront CC. Bethesda held its annual Funky 70s Gala, raising money for kids and families who rely on their programs every day.<\/p>\n
When you walk into the Bayfront tonight, it just hits you. The colors, the music, the energy \u2014 it’s fun, it’s loud, it’s everything you’d expect from a 70s\u2011themed gala. And with bands such as The Groove, it just completes the evening.<\/p>\n
But talk to anyone in the room, and they’ll tell you\u2026 that’s not why they’re here.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it is important to give back to your community and try to get involved, and this all goes toward a really great cause with the Promising Futures Fund and our community and the kids and families that we support.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bethesda works with children and families navigating trauma and crisis \u2014 the kind of challenges most people never see. And for the folks who show up year after year, supporting that work through raffles and auctions\u2026 this isn’t just a donation. It’s something they feel.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’ve been in education for over 40 years. I was a superintendent at one time, and you see that people get interested.\u201d<\/p>\n
That feeling is everywhere \u2014 in the conversations, in the hugs, in the way people light up when they talk about why they came.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo participate\u2026 it helps the kids. This kind of event, I mean, it’s very, very good.\u201d<\/p>\n
Organizers say that support carries them long after the music fades.<\/p>\n
