Frederick H. “Fred” McCoy, 81, of Lincoln Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025 at Reading Hospital.\u00a0 He was married to and survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorris E. (Barthold) McCoy originally of Converse, Texas.\u00a0 Born in West Reading, PA he was the son of the late Warren T. and Helen M. McCoy. Fred graduated from Governor Mifflin High School, class of 1962.<\/p>\n
Fred was a 1966 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 1970 Master\u2019s degree graduate of Temple University, and a doctor of education graduate of Lehigh University in 1987. Fred spent over forty years in the field of education in various positions.\u00a0 From teacher to assistant principal, principal, associate director of curriculum, college professor of education, to associate dean; he dedicated his life to teaching and helping students and educators in all aspects of their educational careers.\u00a0 Throughout his life, Fred was an avid and dedicated model railroader and was a lifetime member of the Train Collectors Association. Fred was always a deep thinker and was very analytical of his spiritual beliefs and actions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his two sons: Matthew and his wife Alice, and Mark and his wife Kelli.\u00a0 Fred is also survived by his three grandchildren: Quynn, Ian, and Aisling as well as his younger brother David A. and his wife Susan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
