CATASAUQUA, Pa.- It’s been well over a year-and-a-half since a partial roof collapse closed Catasauqua’s post office.<\/p>\n

But borough residents should expect to continue taking their letters and packages elsewhere for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

The facility at\u00a0205 Bridge Street isn’t projected to reopen until the end of December of this year, a spokesperson for the United States Postal Service (USPS) told 69 News.<\/p>\n

That updated timeline was confirmed by the office of Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (R- 7th).<\/p>\n

The partial roof collapse happened in June of 2024; the post office was closed at the time and no one was injured.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mail for Catasauqua residents is currently being rerouted through post offices in Hanover and Whitehall townships.<\/p>\n

Previous updates indicated the post office would reopen in the fall of 2025, which didn’t happen. The borough was then told that early summer of this year was a possibility.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But it doesn’t appear that any work has started at the site. Yellow caution tape put up after the roof collapse has been removed, but the building was dark and unoccupied when a 69 News reporter stopped there on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The USPS spokesperson said construction is expected to start in the fall.
