Sarah Cain believes that hard work and integrity are key ingredients in the success she has achieved in her life. \u201cI believe in doing the right thing, even when it is not the easiest path, showing up consistently, and putting in the effort every day,\u201d says the CEO of Damage Control Inc., Eynon.<\/p>\n
Cain has been with Damage Control, a fire damage restoration service, for almost 19 years and has worked in just about every area of the business side of the operation. \u201cToday, my primary responsibility is ensuring the company I love continues to grow and prosper while also making sure our employees are supported, valued, and invested in along the way,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
Upon graduation from high school, Cain attended Empire Beauty School in a part-time capacity in the evenings and the same time she was hired as an executive assistant at Damage Control. \u201cI had plans to finish school and pursue my trade, but I quickly fell in love with my work at Damage Control and after graduating and receiving my license, it was an easy and obvious decision to stay,\u201d she explained. From then on she grew with the company taking on increasing responsibilities and learning every aspect of the business along the way.<\/p>\n
Damage Control\u2019s founder, Jeff Skrilow, has been an incredible mentor to Cain. \u201cHe believed in me early on, challenged me to grow, and helped shape the way I think about leadership.\u00a0 He played a significant role in shaping the professional I am today,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Cain abides by the philosophy that one must be adaptable, open to feedback, and take time to self-reflect. \u201cI also believe that being decisive is key \u2013 progress requires action. You will not always get every decision right, but making thoughtful decisions and learning from them is what moves you forward,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Her fianc\u00e9, Tim, and their three children \u2013 Evelyn, Tommy, and Ethan \u2013 are her greatest support and motivation. \u201cFamily is what matters most to me \u2013 my fianc\u00e9 and my children, my parents and extended family, the friends who feel like family, and my Damage Control family. They are the reason I work hard and stay grounded, and I feel incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such strong support,\u201d said the CEO<\/p>\n
Damage Control is preparing to host its 13th Annual First Responders Appreciation Night and Cain has been part of it since the very beginning, \u201cI am incredibly proud of how much it has grown over the years,\u201d she notes. Supporting first responders is very important to the businesswoman. \u201cIn our work, we often come in after them and see firsthand the situations they face and the impact they make. It is also personal for me \u2013 my brother is a local police officer, and my grandfather served as chief detective of Dunmore,\u201d she notes.<\/p>\n
In addition much of her spare time is spent supporting her children in their activities. \u201cI love being in the stands cheering them on,\u201d she admits. She also serves as den leader and committee secretary for her daughter\u2019s Cub Scout pack; treasurer for her son\u2019s Boy Scout troop; and is an active PTA member.<\/p>\n
