The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on Tuesday announced it is funding 12 new projects to\u00a0construct\u00a0electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along major roadways in Pennsylvania.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The new projects build on the\u00a0$54 million\u00a0already committed to public charging stations across the state through the NEVI program<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania has already constructed 30 charging stations. Additionally, there are\u00a053 additional stations\u00a0in various stages of planning and construction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Awarded projects through the NEVI Corridor Connections program\u00a0include:\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\u00a0Berks County<\/a>:\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

$825,958 to Sheetz<\/a> in Fleetwood, Berks County, along Route 222<\/a> near mile marker 73.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Lehigh County<\/a>:\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

$789,028 to Wawa<\/a> in Allentown, Lehigh County, along Interstate 78<\/a> at Exit 57.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\u00a0Northampton County<\/a>:\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

$789,028 to Wawa in Bethlehem, Northampton County, along I-78 at Exit 67.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThese projects will expand access to electric\u00a0vehicle\u00a0charging from our alternative fuel connections and bridge the gap between long-distance travel and\u00a0community based\u00a0chargers,\u201d said\u00a0PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll.\u00a0\u201cThis is a critical step to improving relatability and access to meet the needs of EV drivers in the Commonwealth.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Since the first Pennsylvania NEVI station opened in December 2023, NEVI-funded charging stations in Pennsylvania have supported\u00a0over 80,000 charging sessions, over\u00a09.6 million estimated miles driven, and\u00a0reduced CO2 emissions by more than 2,000 metric tons.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
