BUSHKILL TWP., Pa.- A longtime kennel and pet groomer in Northampton County will continue operations under a new owner.<\/p>\n
The Center for Animal Health and Welfare (CAHW) has purchased Homestead Kennels and Cattery in Bushkill Township.<\/p>\n
County property records recorded the $1.07 million sale on March 4.<\/p>\n
Operations at Homestead will continue on as usual as a subsidiary of CAHW.<\/p>\n
CAHW made the purchase as a way to diversify its revenue stream, Executive Director Rose LoPiccolo told 69 News.<\/p>\n
“That way we can continue doing the lifesaving work that we do here and continue our mission while bringing in money to do so,” LoPiccolo said. “It can be difficult to fundraise all the time.”<\/p>\n
The nonprofit CAHW was founded in 1913 and previously operated as the Northampton County SPCA. In 2003, it announced its intentions to operate as a no-kill shelter.<\/p>\n
The acquisition of Homestead will not impact CAHW’s operations at its home base on Island Park Road in Williams Township, outside Easton.<\/p>\n
“We still are here to have adoptions, we take in animals and adopt them out, and we have a low-cost clinic,” LoPiccolo said.<\/p>\n
Homestead Kennels and Cattery at 575 Jacobsburg Road\u00a0provides boarding and grooming services for cats and dogs.
