SCRANTON, Pa. \u2014 SUNY Ulster\u2019s baseball team returned to the diamond for the first time in four seasons and debuted with a 13-12 loss to Lackawanna College on Tuesday, March 10.<\/p>\n
Senators coach Randy Delanoy, who coached at SUNY Ulster when the Senators won Region XV titles in 2019, 2021 and 2022, was pleased with his team\u2019s performance against a solid Lackawanna College team.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was our first time outside all season,\u201d said Delanoy, who fielded a team for SUNY Ulster last fall. That team didn\u2019t keep score as the official season is held in the spring.<\/p>\n
SUNY Ulster led 12-8 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning before host Lackawanna (5-8) rallied for five runs in the bottom of the frame.<\/p>\n
\u201cI kind of messed up the pitching,\u201d Delanoy said. \u201cI used all our pitchers for one inning so they could get some action in the first game of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n
SUNY Ulster catcher Noah Devolin went 2-for-6 at the plate with four runs batted in.<\/p>\n
The Senators will travel to Raritan Community College in New Jersey on Saturday, March 14.<\/p>\n
