{"id":135884,"date":"2026-03-11T22:43:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T22:43:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/135884\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T22:43:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T22:43:11","slug":"lorain-union-holds-fundraiser-after-2-teen-girls-die-in-car-pulled-out-of-lake-erie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/135884\/","title":{"rendered":"Lorain union holds fundraiser after 2 teen girls die in car pulled out of Lake Erie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">SHEFFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio (WOIO) &#8211; Local UAW 2192 of Lorain County Job and Family Services is raising money for the family of 18-year-old Lucille Hopkins. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hopkins and 17-year-old Paige Williams died last Friday in a car accident. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to the Lorain Police, the car hit two utility poles before leaving the road and entering Lake Erie at Beaver Park Marina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police say an 18-year-old boy was in the back seat of that car and was somehow able to get out. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Gina Jones with UAW says she was with Hopkins\u2019 father hours before he found out his daughter had died. She told 19 News they were on the picket line. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHe called me two hours later, and when I answered the phone, I knew something terrible had happened,\u201d said Jones. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The union quickly put a meal fundraiser together to help cover funeral expenses. Within the first hour, they sold out of pork dinners. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cTyler, I know, is the type of person that would do anything for everybody,\u201d said Jones. \u201cIf the roles were reversed, he wouldn\u2019t think twice about doing this for someone else\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Over in Vermillion, an Italian restaurant, Salvatore\u2019s, where Paige Williams worked, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to support her family after she was killed in the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Sunday, Studio 828 will be holding another fundraiser for the Hopkins family. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"FUNDRAISER AT LOCAL SALON\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/YNBMYPGRTVCX5ESVSUYJ2KEDJM.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"1224\" \/>FUNDRAISER AT LOCAL SALON(WOIO)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Members at the fundraiser told 19 News that Lucille \u201cLucy\u201d Hopkins Celebration of Life will be on March 14th. The service will start at 5 p.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, located at 6075 Middle Ridge Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">19 News reached out to the Lorain Police for an update on their investigation, but has not heard back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WOIO.
