READING, Pa. – The search for a missing woman and her child ended after authorities in Berks County made a shocking discovery.<\/p>\n

On the evening of Friday, September 19, a woman’s body was discovered in a grassy field off of East Huller Lane in Ontelaunee Township.<\/p>\n

Members of the Berks County Detectives, the Reading City Police Department, the Berks County Forensic Services Unit and the Northern Berks Regional Police Department responded to the scene to begin a death investigation.<\/p>\n

Investigators say the unidentified female appeared to be the victim of foul play, and based upon several descriptors, police suspected she was a person previously reported to Reading Police who had gone missing with her one-year-old son<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, September 20, the body of a toddler was found in a marshy area approximately 150 yards west of where the woman’s body was located the previous day.<\/p>\n

Autopsies were performed on both victims at Reading Hospital and postmortem examinations ruled both deaths homicides. Authorities did not say how the two died.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Investigators confirmed the victims were in fact Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo and her one-year-old son, Jeyden Junior Peguero.<\/p>\n

The investigation, which is ongoing, is being conducted by The Berks County Detectives along with Reading Police.<\/p>\n

Reading Police discovered the body of Junior Cabrera-Colon in the brush along River Road on the morning of September 13. The victim was later found to have died from a gunshot wound to the head.<\/p>\n

Investigators working the case were notified that Cabrera-Colon lived with Peguero-Mancebo and her son and neither had been seen or heard from since Friday, September 12. Both were entered as missing persons endangered in the National Crime Database, police say.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, Jose Rodriguez was charged with Cabrera-Colon’s murder<\/a>. The suspect allegedly told police he acted in self-defense. He’s currently in custody at Berks County Jail without bail.<\/p>\n

No arrests have been announced at this time in the deaths of Geraldina and Jeyden.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Berks County District Attorney John Adams says his office intends to hold a press conference on Monday, September 29 regarding the investigation. Time to be determined.<\/p>\n
