Accompanied by their directors Cheryl Y. Boga and Janelle Decker, the six students participated in the event Friday, March 10 through Sunday, March 12, as Pennsylvania&#8217;s is the oldest continuously running intercollegiate band in the nation. It is run by the Pennsylvania Collegiate Bandmasters Association.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s festival was hosted by Bucknell University and its director of bands William Kenny and led by acclaimed composer\/conductor Frank Ticheli. A number of Ticheli&#8217;s compositions were featured on the program.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Scranton\u00a0students who\u00a0were selected and\u00a0participated:<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Dolan &#8217;26, a computer science major from Conshohocken \u2013\u00a0Tenor SaxophoneMichael Duarte &#8217;29, a computer science major from Ambler \u2013 PercussionDanielle Fernandez &#8217;26, an occupational therapy major from,\u00a0Chatham, New Jersey \u2013\u00a0FluteLiam\u00a0Gronwall &#8217;26, a finance major from Sidney, New York \u2013\u00a0Tenor SaxophoneThomas Marine &#8217;26, a biochemistry major from Cockeysville, Maryland \u2013 TrumpetCaitlin Wilson &#8217;27, a biology major from Harrisburg \u2013 French Horn<\/p>\n<p>The primary focus of Performance Music at The University of Scranton is its student choral and instrumental performing ensembles. There is no music major at the University, and all enrolled Scranton students (undergraduate and graduate) from every major are eligible for membership in the University Bands, Performance Choir, String\u00a0Orchestra and Ensembles,\u00a0and Steel Pans, with neither an audition nor enrollment fee\u00a0required\u00a0for membership. Hundreds of students\u00a0participate\u00a0in\u00a0the ensembles\u00a0each year.
