The M\u00fctter Museum<\/a> will transport guests to an era when scientific discovery sparked bold hopes for the future of medicine at the Third Annual Radiant Ball.<\/p>\n The evening, set for Friday, April 24, is meant to immerse locals in the lens of pioneering scientist Marie Curie and her contemporaries in the early 20th century. Hosted by the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, guests are invited to don their finest 1920s attire, explore the museum after hours, and experience a celebration of the era\u2019s visions for medicine, along with live jazz, themed collections, and a few surprises along the way.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are thrilled that Radiant Ball has become a signature event here at the M\u00fctter Museum and Historical Medical Library,\u201d says Sara Ray, PhD, Senior Director of Interpretation and Engagement. \u201cThis is an opportunity for attendees to step into the time period of Marie Curie and her contemporaries, exploring the innovation and nuanced history of medical technology and its impacts today.\u201d<\/p>\n As a release notes, the event\u2019s fun is all based on history: Marie Curie came to the United States for the first time in 1921, visiting the college to discuss the use of radium in her work and present her piezo-electric measurement device. Curie and her contemporaries were then immersed in a scientific world seeking to understand the \u201ctiny and invisible\u201d\u2014 meaning radiation, genes, germs, atoms, and consciousness.<\/p>\n Philadelphians will now get to enjoy a celebration inspired by that curiosity and imagination.<\/p>\n The evening will feature live performances by Drew Nugent & the Midnight Society and exclusive access to some of the museum\u2019s most unique collections, including medical instruments, pharmaceuticals, models, memorabilia, human and non-human biological materials preserved as osteological specimens, wet specimens, and dry specimens. In total, the Mutter\u2019s repertoire ranges from the seventh century BCE to today in what it holds.<\/p>\n All ticket holders will also get light bites and access to a cash bar (with soft drinks and cocktails), but \u00a0VIP ticket holders will also receive access to an exclusive lounge with custom treats. General admission comes out to be $65, while VIP tickets are $80. M\u00fctter members and College Fellows will additionally receive a 20% discount on all ticket options.
