Greenlight Networks announced a $24 million investment to accelerate the expansion of its fiber internet infrastructure across Northeast Pennsylvania, extending high-speed connectivity to more than 15,500 additional households in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre regions.<\/p>\n
The fiber-to-the-home provider said the project will deepen its regional footprint and strengthen digital infrastructure across multiple communities. Construction is underway in phases across Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Nanticoke, Drums, Hazleton, Kingston and Mountain Top, with additional households expected to come online throughout 2026.<\/p>\n
With the expansion, nearly 42,500 households and businesses in Northeast Pennsylvania will be able to connect to Greenlight\u2019s network. The company said the initiative reflects growing demand for reliable high-speed internet driven by remote work, digital education, and artificial intelligence-powered services.<\/p>\n
The effort builds on Greenlight\u2019s 2025 acquisition of Loop Internet, which now operates under the Greenlight Networks brand. The deal expanded the company\u2019s regional presence by adding a Scranton-based operational footprint, along with more than 50 local employees and additional infrastructure resources.<\/p>\n
Greenlight is also continuing to support business and institutional customers in the region. The company currently provides internet service to the Toyota SportsPlex, the training facility for the Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins, and has signed a municipal agreement with Blakely Borough to deliver fiber connectivity to eight community buildings.<\/p>\n
The company said its fiber network delivers symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 8 Gbps. The fully fiber optic system is owned and operated by Greenlight and is designed to support streaming, remote work, online gaming and video conferencing while offering straightforward pricing without contracts, hidden fees or data caps.<\/p>\n
Greenlight\u2019s growth strategy includes additional expansion through acquisitions. The company previously announced plans to acquire FastBridge Fiber, a deal expected to close in mid 2026 pending regulatory approval. The acquisition would extend Greenlight\u2019s presence into Southeast Pennsylvania and parts of Western New York, while adding more than 75,000 additional households.<\/p>\n
Founded in 2011, Greenlight Networks operates a fiber-optic broadband network serving residential and small-business customers. The company currently serves more than 320,000 homes and businesses across New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland.<\/p>\n
