West Scranton senior Roy Ayala had the best 100-yard breaststroke race of his career and qualified for the B final at the PIAA Class 3A Swimming and Diving Championships at Bucknell University\u2019s Kinney Natatorium.<\/p>\n
Ayala posted a time of 56.97 seconds in the preliminary heats. That far surpassed his District 2 time and school mark of 58.20. It was also the 11th fastest swim of the morning races and put him in the consolation final.<\/p>\n

Williamsport junior Evan Summers, who beat Ayala at the District 2-4 Class 3A subregional, had the fastest qualifying time of 53.77.<\/p>\n
The boys\u2019 evening session starts at 4:30 p.m. The girls\u2019 finals are at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
Abington Heights senior Jason Casper wrapped up his individual-event career by finishing 25th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:46.59. Pittsburgh Central Catholic\u2019s Cinco Perez had the top qualifying time of 4:27.05.<\/p>\n
Abington Heights\u2019 Derek Williams finished 31st in the 100 free with a time of 48.87. Upper St. Clair senior Nazar Zoukovski had the top qualifying time of 44.80. Upper Dublin\u2019s Brady Manser, the 50 free champion, was disqualified.<\/p>\n

Abington Heights senior Geoff Stanton finished 31st in the 100 backstroke. He had a time of 55.74. Unionville\u2019s Grant Fleming was the top qualifier with a time of 47.84.<\/p>\n
Girls<\/p>\n
The season wrapped up in the morning qualifying session for the girls at the state meet.<\/p>\n
Hazleton Area\u2019s Lia Ochs had a time of 5:12.61, which improved on her District 2 time of 5:14.39, and she placed 25th in the 500 freestyle. North Allegheny senior Claire Bacu had the top qualifying time of 4:55.06.<\/p>\n
Tunkhannock freshman Kaitlyn Keown finished 29th in the 100 backstroke. She had a time of 1:01.36. Fox Chapel\u2019s Delaney O\u2019Toole clocked a top time of 54.46.<\/p>\n

Abington Heights sophomore Hadley Pallman finished 30th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.28. State College senior Molly Workman posted the fastest time for the event with a 49.13.<\/p>\n
Abington Heights sophomore Katie Giermanski finished 30th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.71. Kelsey McPeek of Parkland had the fastest qualifying time of 1:02.65.<\/p>\n
Pallman and Giermanski joined Gianna Vachino and Ella Bannon on the Lady Comets\u2019 400 free relay team that finished 30th with a time of 3:50.40.
