The Philadelphia Eagles are holding off on trading star wide receiver A.J. Brown for now, according to The Athletic\u2019s Dianna Russini<\/a>, who reported Friday that the Eagles had entertained \u201cserious conversations\u201d about dealing Brown with the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf a trade were to happen, it would likely heat up closer to June 1,\u201d Russini reported on X.<\/p>\n

Brown’s future in Philadelphia was a major talking point throughout last season, and that chatter has carried into the offseason. Last fall, the three-time All-Pro wideout made it clear, both with his words and his social media activity, that he wasn’t content with his limited involvement<\/a> in a wildly inconsistent Eagles offense that he felt wasn’t doing enough collectively to win when it mattered most<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brown, 28, had three outings with two or fewer receptions over the first eight games. The stretch began with him being targeted only once in the season opener.<\/p>\n

While Brown still wound up recording the sixth 1,000-yard receiving season of a seven-year career that began with the Tennessee Titans, his yardage total was his second lowest since entering the league as a second-round draft pick out of Ole Miss in 2019. And Philadelphia bowed out of the playoffs with a wild-card loss a year removed from winning the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Since, the Eagles have hit the reset button on the offensive side of the ball, parting ways with coordinator Kevin Patullo and bringing in 33-year-old Sean Mannion to take over as OC and infuse some new schematic life into a unit that felt too predictable during the 2025 campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Whether the Eagles will move on from Brown as well has been a question that’s lingered in the months following the team’s premature end to its title defense.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia kept Brown at the trade deadline last season.<\/p>\n

“I think that when you’re trying to be a great team, it’s hard to trade great players, and A.J. Brown is a great player,” general manager Howie Roseman said<\/a> of the team captain after the deadline<\/a> passed.<\/p>\n

“He wears the ‘C’ for a reason. He’s an important part of this team, of this organization. He cares about winning. He cares about his teammates. And I think when you’re a team like ours that is looking forward to an opportunity to compete for a championship, you just don’t get rid of guys like that.”<\/p>\n

If Roseman does in fact “get rid” of Brown, it will be for a luxurious return. His asking price for Brown was a first- and second-round pick, The Athletic reported Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That’s what the Davante Adams trade yielded the Green Bay Packers in 2022 when they sent the standout wideout to the Las Vegas Raiders. At the time, Adams was a year older than Brown is now.<\/p>\n

The Patriots talked to the Eagles about Brown prior to the NFL’s legal tampering period of free agency, per The Athletic, but the two sides didn’t reach a deal.<\/p>\n

New England went on to sign former Packers receiver Romeo Doubs, reportedly to a four-year, $80 million deal<\/a>. That doesn’t necessarily mean the Patriots are out on Brown.<\/p>\n

As for the Rams, they’ve already pulled off one blockbuster trade this offseason<\/a>. L.A. sent four draft picks, including a 2026 first-rounder, to the Kansas City Chiefs for cornerback Trent McDuffie, whom the Rams then signed to a four-year extension reportedly worth $124 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n

L.A. has continued to monitor Brown’s situation, according to The Athletic. The Rams already have Adams and Puka Nacua headlining their receiver room.<\/p>\n
