S. WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – A rapidly growing restaurant chain\u2019s first Lehigh Valley location, open until 2 a.m. or later daily, will dish out free food in celebration of its grand opening.<\/p>\n
The first Lehigh Valley location of Shah’s Halal Food, a fast-casual restaurant chain offering halal platters, gyros, salads and more, will hold its grand opening event 3-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at 3110 W. Tilghman St. in South Whitehall Township.<\/p>\n

During the grand opening celebration, individuals can stop in for a free platter (chicken over rice, lamb over rice, chicken and lamb combo over rice or falafel over rice). No purchase is necessary.<\/p>\n
The South Whitehall location, operated by franchisee Brian Kalo, held a soft opening in May between Ninja Ramen and LV Korean BBQ & Hot Pot in the Village West shopping center.<\/p>\n
Dine-in, takeout and delivery services are available, and seating is available for around 20 guests at low-top tables and a window counter.<\/p>\n
Established in 2005 with one food cart in the Richmond Hill neighborhood in Queens, Shah’s Halal has been “tantalizing taste buds ever since,” according to the business’ website.<\/p>\n

Shah’s Halal is now a 100% halal certified international brand with more than 150 locations worldwide.<\/p>\n

“We are committed to serving humanely-treated meats and fresh vegetables which make up a selection of platters, gyros, burgers, salads, and vegan options. Shah’s signature seasonings and sauces are proprietary family recipes and separate us from other halal brands. Our white sauce, the mascot of our brand, is a cult favorite amongst foodies and the American halal community and is available for purchase in store.”<\/p>\n
In South Whitehall, guests can enjoy Shah’s full menu, featuring gyros ($9.99 each) and rice platters ($11.99 each) that include chicken, lamb, combo (chicken and lamb), fish, falafel, kofta and chapli (chicken or beef with chips). Selections can be customized with your choice of toppings and sauce.<\/p>\n

Other menu highlights include salads with your choice of protein; sandwiches such as a cheeseburger, Philly cheesesteak, chicken cheesesteak and chicken sandwiches (spicy or regular); and sides such as French fries, hot wings, chicken nuggets (spicy or regular), pakora chips and assorted baklava.<\/p>\n
\u201cHalal food and meats are carefully selected and prepared in accordance with Islamic dietary principles, guaranteeing both superior quality and the ethical treatment of animals,” a message on Shah’s website reads.<\/p>\n
The South Whitehall Shah’s joins around a half dozen other Pennsylvania locations, including other regional restaurants in Mount Pocono and Stroud Township in Monroe County and Manheim Township in York County.<\/p>\n
