(WJET\/WFXP)\u2013 The City of Erie needs a logo for their America 250 celebration and they\u2019re now putting students up to the challenge and asking them to flex their creative muscles to create a logo for the city\u2019s celebratory plans.<\/p>\n
The city and its partners announced the contest on Wednesday for students from K-12 to create digital or hand-drawn designs showcasing patriotic themes and pride in Erie to be used across their advertising for the event.<\/p>\n
Millcreek supervisors approve agreement on Green Light Go funds <\/a><\/p>\n Students will have from March 11 to noon on March 31 to submit their designs on the city\u2019s website, with the winner being announced at the City of Erie Cummer Series announcement on April 14.<\/p>\n In addition to having their designs at the center of the event\u2019s promo materials, the winner will also get to join Mayor Daria Devlin on stage\u00a0to count down the fireworks on\u00a0July 3 and\u00a0receive a \u2018We Love Erie\u2019 prize basket filled with\u00a0free memberships and tickets from\u00a0contest\u00a0partners.<\/p>\n Erie\u2019s theme in the national celebration on Independence Day weekend is \u2018Erie 250: Light & Liberty on the Lake,\u2019 and the mayor said she\u2019s excited to see what Erie\u2019s students come up with.<\/p>\n Bicentennial Tower to glow red for Bleeding Disorder Awareness Month <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cAmerica\u2019s 250th birthday is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, and Erie is excited to celebrate it in a big way,\u201d said the mayor said. \u201cTo\u00a0do that, we want our youth \u2014 our future \u2014\u00a0involved, and this contest gives them the opportunity to share their creativity and help create a mark that\u00a0represents\u00a0Erie pride.
