{"id":139505,"date":"2026-03-16T10:53:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T10:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/139505\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T10:53:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T10:53:07","slug":"philadelphia-jewish-film-and-media-and-the-weitzman-museum-are-formally-integrating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/139505\/","title":{"rendered":"Philadelphia Jewish Film and Media and the Weitzman Museum are &#8216;formally integrating&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \"><a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/history\/weitzman-national-museum-jewish-history-first-salute-20251113.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/history\/weitzman-national-museum-jewish-history-first-salute-20251113.html\">The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History<\/a> has, for the last several years, been the main venue and sponsor for events hosted by Philadelphia Jewish Film and Media (PJFM), including <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/entertainment\/movies\/fall-film-festivals-philadelphia-20251105.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/entertainment\/movies\/fall-film-festivals-philadelphia-20251105.html\">its annual fall film festival<\/a>. For the last four years, the PJFM has had its offices in the Weitzman building after years of working out of the old Gershman Y building on South Broad Street. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Now, the two entities are making their relationship official. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">PJFM will now be \u201cformally integrated\u201d into the Weitzman, the museum announced on Monday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cPJFM is becoming a program of the Weitzman,\u201d said <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/arts\/dan-tadmor-weitzman-museum-jewish-history-philadelphia-20241119.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/arts\/dan-tadmor-weitzman-museum-jewish-history-philadelphia-20241119.html\">Dan Tadmor<\/a>, the Weitzman\u2019s president and CEO. \u201cWhereas up until now we\u2019ve been close associates and collaborators \u2014 increasingly close \u2014 now it\u2019s just a complete synergetic, full integration.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The coming together of the organizations has been in the works for a long time, Tadmor said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The PJFM will keep its name, identity, and branding, while its executive director, Kristen Arter, will join the Weitzman as its major gifts officer, arts and culture. Beth Becker, formerly PJFM \u2019s program logistics and operations manager, will serve as the programming manager on the Weitzman Museum\u2019s public programs team. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cTo me, this official integration is a natural next step, built on the years of growing programmatic synergy between PJFM and The Weitzman,\u201d said Arter. \u201cPJFM has always evolved in response to the community while staying true to its mission, and I believe this thoughtful integration gives that work a strong foundation and room to not just thrive but to grow.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The annual Jewish film festival, which is the oldest film festival in Philadelphia, will still take place in November, this time for its 46th year. PJFM will continue to hold its year-end film programming events. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cTheir expertise is great. This is the second-oldest Jewish film festival in the country. They know their stuff,\u201d Tadmor said of the PJFM team. \u201cWe know public programming and have a rapidly growing public programming slate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cSo when you bring these two things together, I think what we\u2019re talking about is a film festival that will gain more and more regional and national prominence,\u201d said Tadmor. The two organizations, he said, can now combine their marketing and database resources. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cPJFM\u2019s screening and advisory structure remains in place, along with the thoughtful programming approach and perspective that audiences have come to know and trust,\u201d Arter said. \u201cPeople can expect the same curatorial voice and the same commitment to high-quality, meaningful, and enjoyable programming.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">New this spring from PJFM is the \u201cDocs and Dialogues\u201d series, where a series of documentary screenings and talks is scheduled to take place in May, which is Jewish American Heritage Month.
