BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. \u2013 A Lehigh Valley fitness facility has closed after roughly five months of operation.<\/p>\n

Asylum Fitness, offering a wide array of cardio and strength training equipment along with personal training and group fitness classes, permanently closed on Saturday, March 14, at 2920 Easton Avenue, Suite 5, in Bethlehem Township, general manager and co-founder Coty Moyer told 69 News.<\/p>\n

The gym held a soft opening on Oct. 1<\/a> and a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 1<\/a> at The Shops at Bethlehem.<\/p>\n

Moyer said Asylum Fitness had found success in its early months, but \u201cfactors outside of the gym\u201d led to the business’ closure.<\/p>\n

Moyer and founder Thamar Hewsen opened the gym in October with a mission of creating \u201ca welcoming, no-contract fitness community built on support, integrity, and results.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asylum Fitness<\/p>\n

The 25,000-square-foot space, previously home to a Maxx Fitness location<\/a>, was re-imagined with intentional strength and cardio training equipment, a dedicated personal-training area, Zumba studio, on-site childcare and a newly designated Community Room supporting mentorship programs, wellness classes and neighborhood partnerships.<\/p>\n

The Shops at Bethlehem continues to house more than a dozen other tenants, including Giant, Petco, Vic’s Bagels, Poke Bar 25 and Dave’s Home Furnishing.<\/p>\n
