HANOVER TWP., Pa.- Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is rallying around federal workers who are currently working without getting paid amid a partial government shutdown.<\/p>\n
The airport in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, will host a Fill the Bus event on Thursday, March 19.<\/p>\n
ABE is asking for donations of non-perishable food items; personal hygiene products and toiletries; diapers and baby products; and pet food \/ supplies to benefit\u00a0Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) workers.<\/p>\n
TSA and FAA workers are among the federal employees currently going without paychecks amid a stalemate in Congress.\u00a0Funding for the Department of Homeland Security lapsed in mid-February after Republicans and Democrats failed to reach an agreement over federal immigration enforcement.<\/p>\n
ABE held a similar event during a federal government shutdown last November.<\/p>\n
This time around, items can be dropped off on Thursday, March 19 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Departures Level \/Upper Roadway (just past the Uber\/Lyft Pick-up area) at the airport.\u00a0<\/p>\n
