The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> came up short of their goals last season. After winning the NFC East division, they were quickly eliminated from the playoffs at home by the San Francisco 49ers<\/a> in the Wild Card round.<\/p>\n Since the end of the season, a lot of talk has been heard. From Nick Sirianni\u2019s job as the head coach being called into question to Jalen Hurts<\/a> taking heat<\/a> and some fans losing faith in him as the team\u2019s starting quarterback, there is a lot of drama surrounding the Eagles.<\/p>\n With that being said, Howie Roseman has been relatively quiet so far during the offseason.<\/p>\n Riq Woolen<\/a> has been the biggest addition in NFL<\/a> free agency. He was signed to bolster the secondary one a one-year deal worth up to $15 million. Outside of that move, Philadelphia\u2019s next biggest move was to re-sign tight end Dallas Goedert<\/a>.<\/p>\n Keeping that in mind, the Eagles have now been urged to consider making a bizarre quarterback move.<\/p>\n Philadelphia Eagles Urged to Bring in Surprising Quarterback<\/p>\n FanSided\u2019s Austen Bundy has named Philadelphia as a team who could make a trade to acquire Derek Carr<\/a> from the New Orleans Saints<\/a>.<\/p>\n Bundy isn\u2019t suggesting that Carr be brought in to compete with Hurts, but he thinks that the veteran quarterback would be a valuable backup for the Eagles to have behind their starter.<\/p>\n Let\u2019s say the Eagles manage to retain wide receiver A.J. Brown<\/a> amid trade speculation and internal frustration,\u201d Bundy wrote<\/a>. \u201cCarr knows how to manage a system offense with elite weapons. He\u2019s previously played with Davante Adams<\/a> and Chris Olave<\/a> so Eagles fans should be confident in his ability to step in and at least stop any bleeding from a Hurts absence.<\/p>\n It\u2019s not impossible that Philadelphia would consider upgrading the backup quarterback position. Hurts has dealt with some injury issues throughout his time with the Eagles.<\/p>\n That being said, the rumors surrounding Hurts and his job status would reach an all-time high if Philadelphia pulled off a trade for Carr. There would be constant discussion about whether or not the Eagles should make a quarterback change if Hurts has a bad game. For a team that has had recent internal drama, that might not be a wise move.<\/p>\n Derek Carr Would Be an Elite Backup for the Eagles<\/p>\n Throughout his NFL career, Carr has received a bad reputation for no reason. He has always been a quality quarterback and would be a great backup in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n Back in 2024 with the Saints, Carr completed 67.7 percent of his passes for 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions in 10 games. He ended up walking away from the game due to a shoulder injury, but has shown an interest in a potential return.<\/p>\n As for Tanner McKee<\/a>, who is the current Eagles\u2019 backup quarterback, the 25-year-old has been solid when called upon. In six games played over the last two years, McKee has thrown for 597 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception.<\/p>\n While Philadelphia could look to improve on McKee, trading for Carr simply doesn\u2019t make a ton of sense.
