Members of the\u00a0Rutgers University\u2013Camden\u00a0community gathered on March 4 to recognize this year\u2019s \u201cRemarkable 31\u201d \u2013 a celebration honoring individuals whose leadership, mentorship, and service have strengthened opportunities for women across campus.<\/p>\n

Held in the Campus Center Multi-Purpose Room, the event invited guests to move through a curated gallery highlighting the contributions of thirty-one students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners whose work has helped expand access, foster inclusion, and support the flourishing of women in academic and professional spaces.<\/p>\n
The event, cohosted by the university\u2019s Division of Inclusion and Community Engagement in partnership with the Gender Studies Program, was part of a series of campus initiatives held recognizing Women\u2019s History Month. Organizers noted that the month provides an opportunity not only to honor historic achievements but also to recognize the individuals whose everyday work strengthens opportunity, scholarship, and mentorship across the Rutgers\u2013Camden community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWomen\u2019s History Month exists to ensure that the leadership, labor, and influence of women, and the individuals who work to support and advance women are intentionally recognized and remembered,\u201d said TiAira Neal, director of diversity, equity, and inclusion for Rutgers\u2013Camden. \u201cThe Remarkable 31 creates space to pause and name those contributions while also acknowledging individuals who actively strengthen opportunities for women.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBy spotlighting the people behind the work,\u00a0the\u00a0Remarkable 31\u00a0underscores a simple truth about institutions: they are shaped not only by policies and programs, but by the individuals who mentor others, advance knowledge, and create pathways for their communities to thrive,\u201d said Joan Maya Mazelis, associate professor of sociology and director of the gender studies program at Rutgers University\u2013Camden.<\/p>\n
