{"id":142169,"date":"2026-03-18T22:39:17","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T22:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/142169\/"},"modified":"2026-03-18T22:39:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T22:39:17","slug":"coroner-identifies-driver-killed-in-route-724-crash-southern-berks-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/142169\/","title":{"rendered":"Coroner identifies driver killed in Route 724 crash | Southern Berks County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CUMRU TWP., Pa. &#8211; The Berks County Coroner\u2019s Office has released the identity of the driver killed in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wfmz.com\/news\/area\/berks\/southern-berks-county\/route-724-closed-in-berks-co-after-fatal-morning-crash\/article_27fa935a-d802-435f-ab93-5ff15cdd0ff3.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tuesday\u2019s fatal crash on Route 724.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The accident happened Tuesday afternoon in the 1800 block of Philadelphia Avenue (Route 724) in Cumru Township.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the crash involved a westbound pickup truck driven by Justin Braun, 47, of Shillington. For reasons still under investigation, the truck crossed the center line and collided nearly head\u2011on with a trash truck traveling eastbound.<\/p>\n<p>Braun was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:40 p.m. by the coroner. The coroner says his cause of death was ruled blunt force trauma, and the manner of death has been determined accidental.<\/p>\n<p>The driver and passenger of the trash truck were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
