{"id":143022,"date":"2026-03-19T19:14:17","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T19:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/143022\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T19:14:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T19:14:17","slug":"upper-darby-trash-residents-can-drop-off-at-3-locations-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/143022\/","title":{"rendered":"Upper Darby Trash: Residents can drop off at 3 locations Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao MvWXB TjIXL aGjvy ebVHC \">UPPER DARBY TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) &#8212; Residents in Upper Darby, Delaware County are able to take out the trash Wednesday at three locations as the township works to catch up on pickup amid a COVID-19 outbreak in the sanitation department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Regular household trash can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Naylor&#8217;s Run Park, (1600 Garrett Road), the Second Ward Playground (Crosley and Emerson Avenues) in the Fernwood neighborhood and Gillespie Park on the 500 Block of Sycamore Avenue in the Westbrook Park section.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;We want to give residents a good alternative as we work through our two-week contingency sanitation plan,&#8221; <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/upperdarby\/posts\/10164119067630456\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mayor Barbarann Keffer said in a statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Residents should be prepared to show proof of residency through their government issued ID or a recent utility bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Bulk items like sofas, appliances, and mattresses will not be accepted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \"><a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/6abc.com\/upper-darby-covid-19-outrbeak-sanitation-department-barbarann-keffer-trash\/6358258\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RELATED: Upper Darby trash pickup possibly delayed 2 weeks due to COVID-19 outbreak<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The entire sanitation department remains in quarantine after several workers tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">In the meantime, the township has hired a private company to take over pickup. Trash collection resumed on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;Working together with TWU Local 234 and a private company, we were able to secure a combination work force of CDL drivers and laborers to ensure continuity of service,&#8221; <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.upperdarby.org\/news\/445\/News_Story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mayor Keffer said.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The mayor said trash collection will be once per week and residents should follow their normal non-summer collection schedule.  Bulk trash pickup will resume when the township sanitation staff returns from quarantine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The mayor says residents should not put out mattresses, rugs, televisions, or large furniture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">There will be a suspension of recycling services for the next two weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">&#8220;We expect recycling collection to resume the week of August 24, 2020,&#8221; the mayor said.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2026 WPVI-TV.
