UPPER DARBY, Pa. (WPVI) — Police say someone fired at least two shots into a Drexel Hill, Delaware County home.<\/p>\n
It happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday along the 200 block of Wilde Avenue.<\/p>\n
“In my opinion, this is a cowardly, despicable act committed for no reason. Luckily, nobody got shot,” Upper Darby Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.<\/p>\n
The homeowners were still in shock on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
“Two of the kids were upstairs, thank God, and we were sitting in the living room and all of a sudden we hear a bullet fly through the window. We get down on the floor and then another comes in,” homeowner Michael Kelly said.<\/p>\n
Kelly said he was inside the home with three other family members when the shots were fired. Amazingly, no one was seriously hurt, though one person in the home was injured by flying glass.<\/p>\n
He said he is not sure why anyone would target his home. Kelly says he’s lived in the neighborhood for about eight years and never has had any problems.<\/p>\n
His once quiet community is now rattled by the violence.<\/p>\n
“When I hear a knock on the door, I don’t know to answer it or not,” Kelly said.<\/p>\n
The community is described as a nice quiet area.<\/p>\n
Action News has learned several officers live in the neighborhood including police Superintendent Chitwood.<\/p>\n
“Any type of cowardly act bothers me – especially when it’s five doors away from you – it bothers me even more,” Chitwood said.<\/p>\n
Detectives are working leads in the case and hoping someone can provide them with information.<\/p>\n
“We believe they hit the wrong house. We believe they were looking for somebody else and they shot up this house, but that is very, very preliminary,” Chitwood said.<\/p>\n
Police are still searching for the shooter.<\/p>\n
