{"id":143641,"date":"2026-03-20T10:48:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T10:48:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/143641\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T10:48:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T10:48:15","slug":"jessup-man-accused-of-leading-law-enforcement-on-high-speed-chase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/143641\/","title":{"rendered":"Jessup man accused of leading law enforcement on high-speed chase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 44-year-old Jessup man led law-enforcement officers on a high-speed chase last week, police charge.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Fuhr, wanted for violating bail conditions, faces two felony charges related to fleeing and eluding law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>According to the criminal complaint, on March 9, Lackawanna County sheriff\u2019s deputies established surveillance at 501 Clarkson Ave., Jessup.\u00a0At about 10 a.m., they spotted Fuhr leaving the residence in his vehicle and activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to stop him.\u00a0Instead, Fuhr sped up and fled.<\/p>\n<p>Officers followed Fuhr onto the Casey Highway, traveling west, sometimes over 90 mph. He exited the Casey onto East Lackawanna Avenue, then\u00a0drove into a heavily wooded area, where officers lost sight of him.\u00a0Officers set up a perimeter but were unable to immediately locate Fuhr.<\/p>\n<p>Fuhr was eventually apprehended and arraigned on March 11 before District Judge Christopher J. Szewczyk.\u00a0He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail.\u00a0A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on March 25.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A 44-year-old Jessup man led law-enforcement officers on a high-speed chase last week, police charge.
