EmergyCare has introduced a new award aimed at recognizing acts of compassion and support across the Erie community.<\/p>\n
The Community Compassion in Action Award honors individuals who go above and beyond through kindness, partnership, advocacy, or meaningful service.<\/p>\n
The first recipient of the award is Paul Amann Jr., general manager of the Peach Street Papa John\u2019s.<\/p>\n
EmergyCare President and Executive Director David Basnak said the award was created to shine a light on individuals making a positive impact.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis gives us an opportunity to highlight the good in our community\u2014the people who are out there doing things that often go unnoticed,\u201d Basnak said. \u201cPeople like Paul deserve to be recognized for the good they do.\u201d<\/p>\n
Amann Jr. earned the recognition for his efforts during the 2024 Black Friday snowstorm, when he was the only employee able to make it to work at Papa John\u2019s.<\/p>\n
At the time, Basnak was searching for hot food for EmergyCare staff as they handled emergency calls throughout the storm. Amann Jr. prepared a dozen pizzas in under 40 minutes, all while continuing to manage incoming orders.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really excited. This is the first time something like this has happened,\u201d Amann Jr. said. \u201cI\u2019m really speechless, but I\u2019m very grateful to EmergyCare for everything they\u2019ve done.\u201d<\/p>\n
Amann Jr. received a framed certificate and medallion in recognition of his actions.<\/p>\n
Basnak said EmergyCare employees can nominate future recipients through an electronic submission form.
