CUMRU TWP, Pa. \u2013 Cumru Township Police say it was inside a home in the 500 block of Church Road where officers found the homeowner and his girlfriend dead.<\/p>\n
Investigators say the relationship between the two may have been falling apart.<\/p>\n
\u201cUpon speaking with some family members that were on scene, it appears that the relationship may have been going their separate ways, which may have played a factor in this investigation,\u201d said Cumru Township Police Chief Madison Winchester.<\/p>\n
Police say officers were called to the home Tuesday night around 9 o\u2019clock for a welfare check after family members had not heard from the couple in days.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe family had arrived at the home because they hadn’t spoken or heard from the occupants in some time, and that concerned them,\u201d Winchester said. \u201cWhen they first arrived at the residence, they were able to look through the window and observe the bodies.\u201d<\/p>\n
Upon entry, officers found the bodies of a man and a woman, both believed to be in their 60s.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreliminarily, it appears that this may be a murder-suicide type of incident, but we’re still gathering information, analyzing all the evidence, whether it’s camera footage and ballistic evidence on scene,\u201d Winchester said.<\/p>\n
Investigators say handguns may have been involved in the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this point, we are investigating and waiting on ballistic evidence to come back to try and paint a better picture of the events and the timeline on how things occurred,\u201d Winchester said.<\/p>\n
Police say they are also reviewing possible surveillance video from nearby homes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also want to go through any kind of video evidence that we can gather from neighbors that may have doorbell cameras or surveillance cameras on their home, which will\u2026be able to hone in better on a timeline of events that occurred,\u201d Winchester said.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing.
