Pittsburgh City Paper is Back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMonths after its closure, the alternative newspaper will return under new ownership.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/light-up-night-dave-dicello-firework-river.jpg\" data-lb-width=\"1000\" data-lb-height=\"667\" class=\" photoswipe gtxlightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-347579\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/light-up-night-dave-dicello-firework-river.jpg\" alt=\"Light Up Night Dave Dicello Firework River\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Only in the Zombie Capital of the World could a newspaper return from the dead.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pghcitypaper.com\/news-2\/pittsburgh-city-paper-is-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Pittsburgh City Paper<\/a>, the alternative newspaper shuttered on New Year\u2019s Eve after 34 years, announced its return to online journalism and monthly print editions under the new ownership of nonprofit organization LocalMatters.<\/p>\n<p>The publication will be a for-profit endeavor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou thought print was dead and gone, too, didn\u2019t you?,\u201d executive editor Ali Trachta wrote in a social media post. \u201cIf City Paper is alive, so is print \u2014 beginning soon with monthly issues. Print is City Paper\u2019s essence. A real-life, free, physical newspaper that keeps you informed and entertained with feature-length storytelling is the antidote we all need to noisy, meme-filled algorithms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All City Paper content will remain free, but Trachta noted readers can support the publication with a sustaining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pghcitypaper.com\/membership-levels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">membership<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>City Paper was formerly owned by Block Communications, the owners of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittsburghmagazine.com\/why-is-the-pittsburgh-post-gazette-closing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Pittsburgh Post-Gazette<\/a>, which is slated to close in May.\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Months after its closure, the alternative newspaper will return under new ownership.
