Police say Pittsburgh officers received information from Ohio Township Police that a female from that borough had arrived at a Pittsburgh hospital after having given birth to a baby. However, according to police, she did not have the baby with her. The woman then left the hospital against the advice of doctors. She was questioned about the infant’s location, and officers were directed to a parked vehicle on Federal Street in Pittsburgh’s North Side. Officers found the infant wrapped in clothing and placed in a plastic bag in the trunk. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation led officers to a home on Marshall Avenue that the woman was known to frequent. At that location, police say they found evidence that “a baby had likely been recently born in the residence.”The woman is being treated at a hospital and will be taken to police headquarters for questioning once she is medically cleared.
