{"id":14691,"date":"2025-10-25T12:38:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T12:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/14691\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T12:38:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T12:38:07","slug":"glamping-comes-to-pa-state-parks-saucon-source","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/14691\/","title":{"rendered":"Glamping Comes To PA State Parks \u2013 Saucon Source"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Mia Johnson<\/p>\n<p>A trend that combines camping with upscale amenities is making its debut in Pennsylvania state parks and offering visitors a new way to enjoy the outdoors with comfort and style.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlamping,\u201d which is short for \u201cglamorous camping,\u201d features safari-style tents equipped with real beds, electricity, climate control and lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources officials recently announced the debut of the state\u2019s first-ever glamping accommodations, collaborating with Timberline Glamping Company to add 61 glamping sites across eight state parks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new offering is another way we\u2019re ensuring that our state parks remain welcoming and enjoyable for all Pennsylvanians,\u201d DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn said from a glamping site at French Creek State Park in Chester County. \u201cBy transforming underused campsites into beautiful glamping experiences, we\u2019re expanding overnight options in a way that\u2019s affordable, sustainable and beneficial to local communities. (Credit: Commonwealth Media Services)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPennsylvania has always been where families come to connect with nature and each other around campfires and under the stars,\u201d said Anne Ryan, deputy secretary of the Pennsylvania Tourism Office. \u201cNow, with glamping, we\u2019re expanding that tradition to welcome travelers who want the magic of the outdoors with modern comfort and convenience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Glamping sites will be available in French Creek, Poe Valley, Hills Creek, Laurel Hill, Pymatuning, Codorus, Hickory Run and Promised Land state parks. Each park with glamping sites will include one ADA-accessible tent.<\/p>\n<p>While no sites are yet open in Bucks County, nearby locations are in Carbon and Chester counties.<\/p>\n<p>Timberline co-owners Nathan and Rebeka Self said the accommodations blend a traditional outdoor experience with the convenience of modern amenities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are passionate about creating beautiful, truly unique and unforgettable spaces, where people can explore our incredible State parks without sacrificing comfort, luxury and style,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>Timberline Glamping Company already has glamping locations in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>The expansion marks Timberline\u2019s first venture in the Northeast, and Pennsylvania will now host more Timberline glamping locations than any other state, officials explained.<\/p>\n<p>Rebeka Self, who is from the West Coast, loves traditional camping, while Nathan Self preferred hotels for their comfort. Nathan Self saw glamping while in the U.K. and it sparked the idea for the business.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pa.gov\/agencies\/dcnr\/recreation\/what-to-do\/stay-overnight\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Online reservations for the state park locations are open for spring<\/a> 2026. Guests can book one-night weekday stays or two-night weekend and holiday stays. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Add-ons like gourmet s\u2019mores kits and firewood bundles are available, and the tents are made in the U.S. using materials crafted by American manufacturers in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>Under the collaboration, DCNR will receive a flat rate plus a share of revenue from Timberline\u2019s operations, generating funds for additional park improvements.<\/p>\n<p>The glamping revenue will support DCNR\u2019s \u201cStill Open.
