SPRING TWP., Pa. \u2014 Spring Township is inching closer to getting a new fast-food restaurant.<\/p>\n
The township’s supervisors voted Monday night to continue a public hearing on a proposed Raising Cane\u2019s restaurant to April 27.<\/p>\n
Dan Becker, the township’s solicitor, said a request came in on Friday afternoon from representatives of the chicken finger chain to reschedule the hearing, which is for the purpose of discussing amendments to the tentative plan for the site.<\/p>\n
The township planning commission was presented with an informal sketch plan in October proposing the construction of a 3,379-square-foot fast-food restaurant on the parking lot of the Kohl\u2019s department store at Paper Mill Road and Meridian Boulevard.<\/p>\n
At the Feb. 5 planning meeting, the sketch plan was resubmitted as a revision to the tentative plan for the Spring Ridge planned residential development plan (PRD).<\/p>\n
A previously tentative plan for the PRD included a 7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee, but that is no longer moving forward.<\/p>\n
Because the plan for 7 Brew cleared many of the requirements to locate within the PRD, the door is now open for Raising Cane\u2019s to move ahead with the process.<\/p>\n

Because a Raising Cane\u2019s was not part of the previous plan, however, a public hearing before the supervisors is needed to amend the PRD.<\/p>\n
Attorney Amy Farrell, who represented 7 Brew, is now representing Raising Cane\u2019s.<\/p>\n
If the supervisors amend the PRD, it will allow Raising Cane\u2019s to submit a final land development plan.<\/p>\n
Raising Cane\u2019s is known for its hand-battered, cooked-to-order chicken fingers.<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s founder and CEO, Todd Graves, opened his first location near Louisiana State University in 1996. It was named after Graves\u2019 yellow Labrador retriever.<\/p>\n
