A pitbull is \u201cfinally home\u201d with his family after he was stolen from his owner\u2019s yard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, more than a decade ago, the city\u2019s animal care and control organization announced.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter all that time, his family never stopped hoping he\u2019d come back,\u201d Animal Care and Control Team Philly<\/a> wrote in a Monday, March 23, Facebook post that showed heartwarming footage of the reunion.<\/p>\n The pitbull, Forty-Cal, and another dog were stolen<\/a> from Jourdyn Koviak\u2019s backyard in Northeast Philadelphia in 2015, WPVI reported.<\/p>\n Though the second dog was ultimately located, Forty-Cal\u2019s whereabouts remained unknown until recently, according to WPVI.<\/p>\n Barking Dog Leads Police to Missing 3-Year-Old Boy in Kentucky Neighborhood: \u2018Unexpected Hero\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n ACCT Philly located Forty-Cal the evening of Saturday, March 21, the TV station reported.<\/p>\n The organization wrote on Facebook that Forty-Cal\u2019s family \u201ckept his lost pet report active and made sure his microchip information stayed up to date, just in case.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYesterday, that \u2018just in case\u2019 became reality,\u201d ACCT Philly said.<\/p>\n The shelter\u2019s staff scanned Forty-Cal and discovered he had a microchip, resulting in them finding his family, according to the organization.<\/p>\n The video shared by ACCT Philly shows Forty-Cal meeting his family again on Sunday, March 22.<\/p>\n “I am overwhelmed. I am shocked<\/a>. I am in disbelief,” Koviak told WTXF-TV.<\/p>\n “He kind of had the shakes. There was a lot going on. Different smells everywhere. So, he came up to us, as gentle as always, sniffed our hands and was kind of just looking around the room,” Koviak said while speaking with the TV station.<\/p>\n
