BOYERTOWN, Pa. – Staff and students in the Boyertown Area School District received a big surprise this morning as one of their own prepares to make an historic debut.<\/p>\n
Before BASD Class of 2021 alumni Trey Yesavage takes the mound tonight, he took some time to thank his former school district and hometown for their support.<\/p>\n

Yesavage, a first round draft pick who was called up to the Toronto Blue Jays in September, will become the second youngest pitcher in Major League Baseball history to start in Game 1 of the World Series when his team takes on the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight in Toronto.Boyertown\u00a0<\/p>\n
The district posted Yesavage’s message to its Facebook page along with a message that read, in part:<\/p>\n
“Trey, thank you for being a reminder to all of us that BIG dreams come true for those who work hard, follow their passion, and choose to become a shining example of our Portrait of A Graduate. We are incredibly proud of your #BASDBEARIMPACT Go Jays Go! #BASDTreyProud”<\/p>\n
